Redcliffe Gardens, London SW10

The original flat was a top floor two bedroom flat where the living space wasn’t maximised because of the restricted height and the inaccessible space under the roof’s eaves.

The client brief was to create a big kitchen with dining table for the family meals and to enlarge the existing bedroom for the two children. Two large dormers have been added at the front and at the back of the property, which is in a conservation area, and the existing roof has been completely replaced with a new one with good thermal insulation.

The layout has been reconfigured, a new en-suite bathroom has been added in the master bedroom and all the available space has been used in the best way, especially where the height was constrained by the sloping ceiling. Under the eaves in the different rooms it was possible to fit what was needed: the dining table with bench and storage in the living area, two beds and built in furniture in the kids bedroom, washing machine and dryer in the main bathroom.
